Welcome.

As the founder of an animal sanctuary, I have had the unique experience of deeply loving and having to say goodbye to dozens of animals. No matter the reason an animal leaves us, the pain can be unbearable.

As an avid reader of obituaries, I believe in witnessing a life well lived. I believe that telling the stories of our loved ones helps us make them whole in our memories: we can recall them when they were young and vibrant, or the joy they found being part of our lives. We can thank them for their time with us, and share the best parts of them– the ones that only you know because you were their trusted human– with a like-minded community.

Giving sorrow words is a healing act, and I hope that in this space you will find comfort, community, and joy as you recall the hundreds of joyful moments you shared with your beloved animals. Here, your grief is believed, and your love is honored.

A dignified, elderly golden retriever lies peacefully on a plush, neutral-toned dog bed, eyes gently closed, fur slightly silvered around the muzzle. A favorite, well-worn stuffed toy rests near its paws. The setting is a serene corner of a living room, with a soft wool rug beneath and a few tasteful plants blurred in the background. Late afternoon golden light filters through sheer curtains, outlining the dog’s fur with a gentle halo and casting warm, elongated shadows. Photographed at eye level with shallow depth of field, the dog’s serene expression is in sharp focus while the surroundings soften, creating a compassionate, tender atmosphere suited for a memorial portrait on a pet obituary site.

“Writing about my cat here turned unbearable silence into a gentle ritual of remembering. Seeing her story published made my grief feel witnessed.”

A small, sunlit garden corner features a simple stone marker with no text, nestled among lavender, rosemary, and low white blossoms. In front of the stone lies a neatly folded, colorful cat collar with a tiny bell, and a smooth, heart-shaped river rock. Dew still clings to petals and leaves, catching the early morning light that streams in at a low angle, creating sparkling highlights and soft, elongated shadows. The camera is positioned low, almost at ground level, drawing attention to the collar and stone against a softly blurred backdrop of greenery. The photographic realism, gentle color palette, and tranquil atmosphere convey a private, dignified resting place for a beloved pet.

“Sharing my rabbit’s obituary was harder than I expected, yet deeply healing. Putting memories into words helped me breathe again through the heartbreak.”
